Church World Service (CWS), has been participating with the people of the Lao Peoples Democratic Republic towards an improved quality of life for more than 20 years. Although the primary focus for CWS long-term project activities in the Lao PDR is in the education sector, CWS also provides emergency relief assistance when disasters strike and CWS also occasionally assists with initiatives in other sectors. The CWS project activities are located primarily in the northern mountainous part of the country in the Provinces of Oudomxay, Phongsaly, Luang Nam Taa, and Luang Prabang (map). Additionally CWS supports some small project initiatives in the Vientiane Municipality.
